Happy Mother’s Day!

I want to wish all the mom’s out there a wonderfully happy Mother’s Day, especially my mommy, who is in fact the best mom in the whole world.  I love my mom more than any words could ever describe.

We had a fabulous Mother’s Day dinner which consisted of steak, mashed potatoes, veggies and corn on the cob.  Annnndd because the weather was so nice we got to eat outside :).  My mom also got the most wonderful Chocolate Tuxedo Mousse cake from Costco. oh man, Costco NEVER disappoints me, it was fabulous.  Obvi no picture, because the cake was gone as soon as I took it out of the fridge. haha.

After we ate, Erik started the fire in our outdoor fire pit and we sat around it and talked for a few hours, until it was time for our softball games.  This weeks shirt theme was pink, figures it would be the week I couldn’t play we wear my favorite color!  But I gave Erik my favorite pink softball shirt, I have had this shirt since I was about 12 years old.

Doesn’t he look cute in pink!? hehe. I love it!  Well unlike our football game, we lost both of our softball games, in baaad fashion too :( The team we played was filled with a bunch of you know whats.  Very unsportsmanlike!  Needless to say, I had a few choice words for them throughout the game.  I am really really hoping my leg will get better this week, so that I can play next weekend!

Well folks, that is all for today. I hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day!

We WON!

Hey guys!

A quick update for today, we had our second football game and we won!  Diana and I couldn't play this week, so the 3 ladies had to stay in the whole game and they were awesome! I think the ladies really stepped it up, ok fine the whole team stepped it up! We all agreed that we should have beat the team by a lot more than we did, but a win is a win, and that makes me happy.  My hamstring will hopefully be healthy enough to allow me to play next week!

Ernest and Jason had a pretty killer collision and I was trying to put the video up on here but it won't let me :( I will put the video up on facebook and you can check it out there!

Alright well I hope everyone has a nice Saturday night!

Date Night :)

Tonight Erik and I had a date night! I love date nights!!!! We went to Z Burger for dinner, YUM, and I obviously have no picture to post because we ate our dinner in record time. So I will show you someone else's Z burger picture I found on the interwebs:

I mean we were in and out of Z burger in 20 minutes, and I think it took them a good 15 minutes to get our food to us! haha. Don't judge it was around 8pm and we were STARVING. After dinner we went to see Thor in 3D. It was a pretty good movie, and we even got to wear really awesome 3D glasses. Our date night wasn't your traditional get dressed up nice and go out to a nice restaurant date night, and we loved it!
Well folks that is all for tonight!

Question: What is your favorite thing to do on date night?

Cinco de Mayo! - Yesterday, haha-

Soo, my mom says she liked my blog better when I had a lot of food pictures up :)

 So here you go mommy!

Last night we invited my mom and sister to come over for some Cinco de Mayo festivities.  I made tacos/burritos, and my mom brought the avocados and margarita stuff (the most important ingredient to dinner!).  We had a great time. The tacos were really really yummy and Erik made some amazing margaritas! mm mm mm!

After dinner we watched the recording of the season premier of  “The Voice”, I really like that show.  If you haven’t tuned in for that show, I highly recommend it.  I like it so much better than American Idol, because everyone who comes onto the show has a great voice.  They have already done their screenings, so that there aren’t any “William Haongs”.

This week I got some pretty sweet deals on mousse! I got 4 cans of mousse for $4:

Stolen Pizza!

Ladies and Gentlemen, today someone stole my pizza from my desk at work.

My friend Sundeep, was kind enough to save me 2 pieces while I was out couponing, and when I got back I asked him if he saved me pizza and he said, “maaayyybe”, which means yes, obvi. So I walked over to my desk and there was nothing there, I went back to his cube and asked him where he put it, and he said right on your desk.  Obviously someone had stolen my pizza right off of my desk.

I just don’t understand what kind of person does that.  I haven’t been picked on like this since elementary school and let me tell you, it didn’t feel good then and it doesn’t feel good now.  I know it was directed at me personally, because another guy at work had someone put pizza on his desk, and no one took his pizza. *hmph*

Well I did go couponing at CVS today, and it was a great couponing day, I also went to walmart and couponed there, but I will have to tell you about both trips tomorrow.

I hope everyone had a better day than I did!

Two hand touch football is more dangerous than you think!

So, we had a football game yesterday afternoon.  I was nervous/excited about the game.  I am super competitive, so I really wanted to win.  We came out strong, scored a touchdown on our very first drive, things were looking good.  And that is were everything really started falling apart, don’t get me wrong, we played a good game, but we lost.  Sometime during the game, I don’t really remember when, a guy on the other team went up to catch the ball and had his back turned towards Diana, while Diana had her arms stretched out to down him.  Well what Diana didn’t know was that another guy on our team, James, was also going after the guy, long story short the guy ran into Diana and bent her wrist back. *sadface*

I took one look at her wrist and had a feeling it was broken, I just don’t think her hand would have puffed up like a balloon if it was just sprained.  Needless to say, she had to sit out for the remainder of the game *sadface*.  I went in for her when our team was on defense, and everything was going well until I lifted my leg and took a step and felt my hamstring “pop”.  Oh man it was painful, I also had to come out of the game *sadface*.  Diana ended up going to the ER to get her wrist checked out and found out that it was indeed broken *double sadface*, and she will have to have a cast on for 6-8 weeks.  We are hoping that she will be able to come into the game and play defense, but I am not sure that is a good idea.

A doctor friend of ours took a look at my leg and told me that I either pulled the muscle or partially tore it, but he did say that I did not tear the tendon (whew).  I probably won’t be able to play this weekend, so personally I am hoping for rain, maybe we can use that time to practice a bit more, who knows.  We did learn a lot from our first game, and I think we will be ready to come out and win a lot if not all of our games this season!

Because of my injury I did not get to play in any of our softball games today :(.  I heard we lost all 4 games *ugh*.  Well I am going to relax on the couch like Ella:

I hope everyone has great Sunday!

Wine and Coffee Bar, in the same building? Awesome!

Last night I went over to my friend Alaina’s apartment to go over a few of her wedding details (YAY)!  Afterwards we met up with my sister(-in-law) Lauren, and walked over to Northside Social, which is a coffee shop downstairs and a really cool wine bar upstairs.

We hadn’t eaten yet so we decided to order their special, Pulled Pork sandwich with chips.

oh my goodness those sandwiches were amazing.  Whoever thought to put white cheddar cheese on a pulled pork sandwich and press it was a genius, please hand him/her a medal. The three of us shared a bottle of wine, (which was meh just alright), then headed over to Firefly, where we were introduced to the most amazing dessert ever created!

They put cookie dough in a ramekin, and put it into the broiler so that just the top, sides and bottom are cooked, and top it with some vanilla ice cream, and chocolate syrup! Wow, really? I am so sad I never knew this existed.  If you haven’t tried it, I urge you to head over to FireFly in Arlington and give it a taste.  Alaina admitted she had gone to FireFly on Thursday and had already had that dessert, so she tried something new.

It was some sort of chocolate cheesecake, it was good, but not up to the caliber of the cookie dough. mmmm. I think I had a dream about it last night :)

This is what I did this morning:

Erik was away at Richie’s bachelor party so I took that opportunity to sit outside with my coffee and coupon! I will have more updates from today’s events tomorrow!

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Question: What is your favorite dessert, and where is it from?

Running of the Brides!

Last night I stayed at Patti’s house in order to get ready for the Running of the Brides!  We woke up at 5:30 am and left the house by 6am, but when we got there we realized we obviously had no idea how crazy some DC brides are.  The ladies in the front of the line had camped outside of Filenes Basement for 2 days! Who honestly has that much time?
Our team consisted of me, Patti, Kristy, Sam, and Patti’s mom and dad!  Us ladies had matching camo shirts, and when we got there we had about 50 or so brides in front of us.  The line was ridiculous:

The line behind us was even more ridiculous, haha

We waited in line, had some McDonalds, and people watched until 8am when they opened the doors, and it was mass chaos.  Brides and their team members were running and screaming like, well crazy people.  This is what the poor store had to deal with:

Just look at all those poor expensive dresses laying on the ground.  Once we got into the store all of the wedding dresses had already been pulled off of the racks!  So we had to go to plan B which was find the group with the largest pile and stand next to them.  We found this nice group who had a pile of about 100 wedding dresses, which technically was against the rules because rule #1 was no hoarding, regardless they needed the same size dress as Patti did, so we took the dresses they didn’t like.  You have to understand the system; if you don’t have a wedding dress to trade you are not going to get one… ever…. Unless you find some nice people and beg them for one dress they don’t want.  Which is obviously what we had to do.  But it was all worth it because Patti found her wedding dress!!!  She did suffer a minor injury, probably caused by one of her own bridesmaids! Haha

We had a really great time, and I will most definitely do it again for anyone else that needs a cheap wedding dress!  Well folks I must rest now, it was a long morning of bridal stampedeing !

Question:  Have any of you ever been to the Running of the Brides?  What did you think?
